What can we find at the São Sebastião mast party? How many trances walk through it? What stories are unveiled? 20 01 is a film that enters the meat of the festival, in the community of Cumuruxatiba, southern Bahia. The film enters the middle of the crowd to make us reflect on the seduction of contemporaneity about a Pataxó rite, with the face of a saint: The São Sebastião mast party, which changes the whole landscape, transforming every January 20th, the secular procession. What, in fact, is happening to the Pataxó native culture behind the saint? The film works with living manifestations, living people, voices, so it is an organism under construction and deconstruction, different from a dated document, with sources from the past without any claims. The pact with what is portrayed crosses the possibilities of its transmutation, as well as celebrating metamorphosis.
